Digital art is in its infancy. This is an exciting time to be an artist and an exciting time to experience art. I wanted to create a place where I could hold up and shed light on some of the voices out there that are killing it and I wanted to help YOU by sifting through the oodles of stuff and let you get right to feeling inspired. This is a place where you can discover, play, and experience the delicious feeling of something that makes you feel and see the world in a new way.
See where you end up!
Trey McIntyre Project was founded in 2005. The company achieved great audience and critical success as McIntyre created over 23 original works for the company as well as numerous film projects, interactive site specific works, and photography collections. They have been featured in The New York Times, Dance Magazine, The Los Angeles Times, PBS NewsHour, The Washington Post, and many more. The company performed in hundreds of prestigious venues across the world including Brooklyn Academy of Music, Carnegie Hall, Jacob's Pillow, Walt Disney Concert Hall, and Zellerbach Hall. They also traveled to China, South Korea, Vietnam, and The Philippines on behalf of the US State Department as a part of Dance Motion USA.
In 2014, McIntyre announced that the company (at the height of its success) would transition from being a touring dance company to focus on new creative projects...one of which is this website.
Trey McIntyre was created in 1969 as a collaboration between his mother and father. His interest both in art and getting the hell away from Kansas led him to train at North Carolina School of the Arts and the Houston Ballet Academy. In 1989, he was appointed Choreographic Apprentice to Houston Ballet, a position created especially for him, and in 1995 he became the company’s Choreographic Associate. He has worked for more than 30 years as a freelance choreographer, producing more than 100 pieces during the span of his career so far. He also did a bunch of other cool things, worked with a lot of amazing companies, and won a bunch of awards.
A confessed polymath, McIntyre has developed a cult following for his photography of the human body (see more at Patreon), written several published essays, and completed the feature-length documentary Gravity Hero, which premiered at the Dance on Camera Film Festival at Lincoln Center.
His main focus recently has been adding more love into the world. He loves you and doesn’t even know you.
